Debra Lee “Debbie” Wilson (Reid), of Hermiston, OR passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR at the age of 64.  She went peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by friends and family.

Debbie was born on December 7, 1950 in Pendleton, OR to Doris Crystal (Jones) and Perry James Reid, and grew up in Dayton, WA. She graduated from Dayton High School in 1969 and married Garry LeRoy Wilson on June 28th of that year in Hermiston, OR.  The couple moved back and forth between Oregon and Texas for Garry’s job over the years, before settling permanently in Hermiston. Debbie worked numerous local jobs early in their marriage before retiring from Wal-Mart in 2012 after 20 years.

First and foremost, Debbie will be remembered as a loving wife, a mother and a grandmother.  She was a kind, gentle, woman who loved her family and the Lord.  She lived to make people smile and held on to her sense of humor to the end.

Debbie was one of the first members of Hermiston Christian Center.  She enjoyed staying active in the community by volunteering for various causes, including the Hermiston Christian School and the Special Olympics of Hermiston.  She had a passion for many different arts and crafts, entering numerous items into the Umatilla County Fair every year and sewing dresses for every occasion.  She eventually pursued a lifelong dream by becoming a Bob Ross Certified Instructor, teaching painting classes both from her home and a local craft store.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Doris Reid; children, Angela Wilson, Sara Shoemake and husband Clint, Jonathan Wilson, Bryan Wilson and wife Morgan; grandchildren, Mark Wilson, Alec Wilson, Adrianna Wilson and River Wilson; brother, Steven Reid; all of Hermiston, OR; and sister, Beverly Reid, of Milton-Freewater, OR.  She is preceded in death by her father, Perry Reid; husband of 39 years, Garry Wilson; and children, Christopher Wilson and April Wilson.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hermiston Christian Center, 1825 W. Highland Ave., Hermiston, OR.  In lieu of flowers, Debbie requested donations be made to the Hermiston Christian Center kitchen renovation project or Special Olympics Oregon - Hermiston
