Daryl R. Hicks was born on September 7, 1945 in Eagle, Idaho to parents, Robert and Deloris Clement Hicks. He died on February 19, 2017 at his home in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 71 years. Daryl was raised and attended school in La Grande, Oregon. He graduated from La Grande High School in the class of 1963 and enlisted in the United States Army. He served until his honorable discharge and returned to La Grande. Daryl attended Eastern Oregon University before serving full time in the Oregon National Guard. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Sue DeClue on January 14, 1972 in La Grande, Oregon. He was transferred to Hermiston, Oregon in 1991 to be the shop foreman at the Umatilla Army Depot. Daryl retired in 1998 as a Master Sergeant in the Oregon National Guard with 35 years of service to his country.Upon his military retirement, he drove trucks alongside his son Sam for various local companies. Daryl was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed gold mining, archery, camping, and spending time with his family.    

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Hicks, Hermiston, OR; sons: Sam Hicks (Angela McNalley), Hermiston, OR, Dale Kasinger, Monmouth, OR, & Jimmie Kasinger, Albany, OR; daughter: Tammy Olsen (Steven), Brinnon, WA; sister: Cheryl Moore, Redmond, OR; grandchildren: Julian, Mark, Angela, Kristina, Christopher, & Nyoka; and 6 great grandchildren.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Hicks.

Daryl’s family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation and deepest gratitude to Vange John Memorial Hospice for all of the help and compassion extended to Daryl and his family.
     
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hermiston National Guard Armory on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00pm.  900 SE Columbia Dr, Hermiston, OR 97838
