Betty Jean Briley, former Stanfield-Hermiston resident, was born on June 6, 1927 in Bend, Oregon to parents, Charles and Anna McQuinn McMahon. She died on August 22, 2016 in Woodburn, Oregon at the age of 89 years. She was raised and attended schools in Portland, Oregon. Betty was united in marriage to David D. Briley on July 27, 1947 in Vancouver, Washington. They lived in Clackamas County, Oregon for many years where Betty stayed at home to raise their eight children. They moved to Stanfield, Oregon in 1989 and then to Woodburn, Oregon in 2015. Betty enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, crossword puzzles, reading, camping, spending time at the beach , and going to the cabin in Sumpter.

She is survived by her children: Chester Wyatt, Elgin, OR, Rebecca Stearns (Jim), Hermiston, OR, Stephen Briley, Hermiston, OR, John Briley, Eagle Creek, OR, Mark Briley (Teri), Woodburn, OR, & Barbara Emra (Keith), Donald, OR; 15 great grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband David Briley in August 2015, her parents, and 2 sons: David Wayne Briley & Richard “Rick” Briley; 6 sisters: Hazel, Gladys, Bernice, Ethel, Dorothy, & Blanche; 2 brothers: Walter & Alvis.

A celebration of life service for Betty and David will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston, Oregon. 

Burial with military honors for David will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield, Oregon.
