Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Brandt passed away July 2, 2012 at her home in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her immediate family.

She was born to Harry and Gertrude Doering Miller, in their home in Maupin, Oregon on February 3, 1933. The family settled in Tillamook County, where she was raised. While there she met, fell in love with and married her childhood sweetheart, Donald F. Brandt, on November 14th of 1950. That was the beginning of 62 years of a love that grew stronger as the years went by.

Betty and Don settled in Stanfield where they raised 4 children; Don (deceased), Jerry, Bill and Terri. She created a home filled with love, laughter and God’s spirit. Betty was a stay-at-home mom, and learned to make delicious meals from all the fish and game that Don brought home. When Terri was in junior high, Betty went to work in the kitchen at Hinkle. When the restaurant at Hinkle closed, she worked in the kitchen at Stanfield Elementary.

When the busy years of raising her family were over, Betty began a long period of crafts that included doll making and quilting. Her porcelain dolls were high quality and she sold her craft work at holiday bazaars, which she enjoyed as much for the people as selling her work.

Over the years, pain in her hands forced her to give up the crafts, but it only changed where she applied her amazing energy. Family history became her focus, and over the next decade she traveled several states gathering together pieces that have become a treasured work in the Brandt family.

Her final weeks at home were filled with a steady, almost overwhelming, stream of visitors and an outpouring of love from the community. She remained loving, gracious and humorous to the end, and died peacefully knowing she was headed to a better place.

Betty is survived by her husband, Don of Hermiston; Son, Jerry and his wife Debbie Brandt of Hermiston; Son, Bill and wife Tracy Brandt of McMinnville, OR; Daughter, Terri Brandt-Correia and her husband Dave of Hermiston; Sister, Jeannine Moore of Paradise, CA; Brother, David Miller of Kalama, WA; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Son, Don Brandt and Brother, Bill Miller.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Vange John Memorial Hospice, 1050 W. Elm Ave., Suite 220, Hermiston, OR 97838.
